Teak Maintenance for Norfolk Leisure and LIFE Garden Furniture
This product contains teak wood, a wonderful natural material. Teak wood comes from the ‘Tectona Grandis’ tree, also known as the ‘teak tree’ which is found in South-East Asia and South America.
Teakwood is exceptionally well suited for outdoor furniture because it is so strong and durable and doesn’t splinter easily. Teak reacts to temperature and moisture which can change the colour and create small tears in the wood, adding unique character.
To protect the teak against dirt and discolouration a protective layer of the following products is added at the end of the manufacturing process. As time goes on, the protective layer will lose effectiveness, so it is vital to re-apply these products, to keep the teak protected.
During the teak manufacturing process Teak Shield is applied. As it can take a while for shipping and purchase, we suggest that the Teak Shield is reapplied directly after purchase.
LIFE Teak Cleaner
When your table top needs intensive cleaning:
Cover the floor of the workspace. Rinse off the furniture with water. Shake the teak cleaner well before use. Use a sponge to apply the teak cleaner and let it rest for 3 minutes. Now wipe the table clean following the grain of the wood using the course sponge provided. After application rinse the furniture with clean water.
LIFE Robust Teak Protector
Use only for Robust Teak. When the table has been cleaned using Teak Cleaner or when the surface of the wood starts to feel rough, apply a thin layer of Robust Teak Protector. Let it set for 30 minutes then apply a second layer. After applying the second layer let it dry again for 30 minutes. Use sparingly, as excess protector may run onto chairs or patios and stain.
LIFE Teak Shield
Shake the bottle before use. for at least 1 minute. Apply a thin layer of Teak Shield with a soft cloth that does not leave excess fibres. Let it set for about 4 hours. After 4 hours, apply a second layer. Let it dry for at least 48 hours without exposing it to weather influences. Repeat this maintenance process every 2-3 months.
