Downtown Store Grantham
Loss Prevention Assistant
To maintain robust security across our Downtown Grantham site and minimise stock loss, we are seeking a Loss Prevention Assistant to join our existing close-knit and friendly Loss Prevention team.
Responsibilities for this extremely varied and rewarding role involve surveillance of the site to protect stock, buildings and Company property using CCTV systems and intercoms, maintaining the safety of the site and ensuring welfare of both our customers and staff. You must be within 20 minutes’ drive of our Downtown Grantham store, with the ability to attend occasionally call out duties in a vehicle.
You must be able to be diplomatic and have a high degree of tact during challenging situations. You will be trustworthy and able to communicate effectively as part of a small, close-knit team. Although not essential, you would be at an advantage if you have relevant experience or suitable qualifications (such as an SIA licence).
Hours are 26.5 worked over three or four days a week, including two weekends in four and some nightly on-call duties on a fixed-rota. Specific details of your working pattern are somewhat open to negotiation.
This role is a national minimum wage position, and the successful candidate will be required to undertake a reimbursable DBS check before starting work with us.

Cook
Our Downtown Store Grantham Restaurant has for many years offered our customers quality food and beverages and a well-earned rest from their shopping.
We are seeking a driven, passionate and friendly Cook to support our team working 35 hours per week.
As a Cook you will be at the heart of our operation, working in a fast paced environment with a team of fantastic people to produce an exemplary standard of food to our customers. You will also occasionally be required to assist in other areas of the kitchen with basic food preparation, stock replenishment and general housekeeping duties. Ideally you will have experience in a similar role.
Hours are 35 per week worked over five days a week, including alternate weekends. A flexible approach to working days and times is desirable, and you should be available to work varying days if occasionally required. There is no requirement for evening working in this role.

We are seeking friendly, enthusiastic, and hard-working Restaurant Assistants to support our teams at both our Downtown Grantham store and Downtown Garden Centre restaurants at weekends.
As a Restaurant Assistant you will be at the heart of our operation, working in a team of fantastic people to offer an exemplary service to our customers. You will also be required to assist with basic food preparation, till work, stock replenishment and general housekeeping duties. Ideally you will have experience in a similar role.
Hours worked are 5 or 5.5 per week usually worked on Saturday or Sundays. Flexibility is key and you should be occasionally available to work varying shift patterns, additional hours and differing days if required.

Cleaning Supervisor
The cleanliness and sanitisation of our stores, offices and workspaces has never been more important. We strive to maintain excellent standards of hygiene and immaculate displays of our products for the benefit of customers and staff alike.
We are seeking a Cleaning Supervisor to oversee and be responsible for our high standards of presentation across our Downtown Grantham site, usually working shifts from 7.30am to 3.30pm over 4 days a week, including weekends.
Duties include overseeing a small team and maintaining cleanliness of lobbies, entrances, walkways, toilets and restaurants across our whole Grantham site, as well as routine sanitisation of touchpoints and seating areas. You will manage the rotas for the team and stock of cleaning supplies.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, reliable and able to communicate effectively as part of a small, close-knit team. Applicants would be at an advantage if they have relevant cleaning or supervisory experience.
Hours are 29 per week in total, although there may be a requirement to occasionally cover beyond your usual shift times. Flexibility is key and you should be available to work varying days and additional hours if required.

Fixed-Term Social Media and Marketing Assistant
Downtown is an independent retailer operating large department stores in Grantham and Boston, a major garden centre at our Grantham site adjacent to the A1, and an online business.
An extremely rare and exciting full-time (part-time considered for the right candidate) opportunity has arisen for a Marketing and Social Media Assistant to join our small friendly team as maternity leave cover.
Working closely with various sales teams and colleagues in the Marketing and Visual Merchandising teams, you will play a pivotal role in uploading and interacting with engaging content on our growing social media platforms, mainly Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
The role will involve working at a variety of sponsored Downtown events, getting involved in activities and working with a range of products all with the aim of creating imagery and videos to edit, caption and post to socials, appealing to our target audiences.
To succeed in this fun and unique position you will preferably need:
• A proven history of creating content, including editing and writing captions for posts to social media.
• The ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders to achieve your tasks.
• Marketing experience, preferably within retail.
• A good working level of literacy, spelling and grammar to be able to write social media posts and schedule them accurately.
Hours are somewhat negotiable but are likely to be worked over 5 days a week within our core 8.30am-5.30pm hours of work.

Sales Assistant (Pets)
Do you have an interest in pets and a passion for animals? If so, we would love to hear from you as you could be the Salesperson we’re looking for to join our Downtown Garden Centre.
We are seeking a Sales Assistant to work across our Pets and Aquatics departments focussing on presenting our stock and offering our customers excellent service on one of our busiest and most rewarding sales areas.
As well as building rapport with customers and once trained deliver expert product recommendations on areas such as pet nutrition, there is also a degree of manual handling in this role, rotating stock, ticketing, and general housekeeping to merchandise the products on offer.
You will be a key team player, with superb communication skills and good levels of self-motivation. A prior knowledge of pet foods and their nutritional content is beneficial, although full training will be provided.
Hours are between 18 per week usually worked on three shifts a week during store opening times, including weekends during our busiest trading periods.

Do you enjoy helping others and providing customers with a great service? If so, we would love to hear from you as you could be the Salesperson with the helpful nature we’re looking for to join our tills team at Downtown Garden Centre.
Duties include offering our customers an excellent service on our busy till points, building rapport, interacting with customers, and delivering solutions to the individual customer’s needs. You will also be occasionally required to help in other areas of the Garden Centre, including undertaking merchandising and stock control tasks or supporting neighbouring departments.

How old do I need to be?
You must be school leaving age or older to work for us. In England, you can leave school on the last Friday in June if you’ll be 16 by the end of the summer holidays.
You can apply shortly before you finish school, but you won’t be able to start until after the last Friday in June.
