When looking for some new towels, we appreciate there a lot of factors to consider. We have outlined a few of the most important towel features below.

Material

You will find the most common material for towels is 100% cotton. They are luxurious to the touch but have a lower GSM than some of the top end fabrics. Cotton is a familiar and soft material which dries quickly. They can also be washed and put in the tumble dryer for cleaning. Egyptian and Pima cotton are also often used for towels. The material is finer and longer than regular cotton, resulting in towels that are extremely durable yet soft. As Egyptian cotton is more porous, the towels soak up water quickly and can hold more moisture. You may see the term 'supima' used, this is the trademarked name for materials made from pima cotton.

GSM

The term GSM stands for grams per square metre, and is a good indication of how dense and absorbent a towel is. A general rule of thumb is the higher the GSM, the thicker, heavier and more absorbent the towel will be.
