No bed is complete without a stunning yet beautifully soft set of Pillowcases. At Downtown our bed linen collection features a range of stylish and timeless designs that will not only look fantastic but also help you enjoy a great night's sleep. However, for those that enjoy something more simplistic, we also have a variety of soft cotton pillowcases available from leading brands.

Depending on the range of bedding you use, you may also want a different style of pillowcase. That is why we have broken down some common pillowcase terminology below.

Housewife - Also known as the 'standard' pillowcase. The housewife pillowcase has a solid sewn edge which is designed to fit perfectly around your standard pillow. They generally measure 75 x 50cm and are available in a range of colours and designs.

Oxford - This type of pillowcase is known for having a wide stitched hem around the edge to create a border. The size of hem can vary in length, but is commonly 5cm. On the inside, the oxford pillowcase is the same size as the housewife and will fit most standard pillows, with a measurement of 75 x 50cm, with an extra 5cm or so for the border.

Square - Some bedding ranges offer square pillowcases. These are more often used for decorative purposes and usually also have a stitched border around the outside, similarly to the oxford pillowcase. Square pillowcases can vary in size, but they are commonly 65x65cm.

Many of our bedding sets do include pillowcases, however where these are not included it will always be stated. A variety of our brands sell pillowcases separately so you can accessorise your bedroom in style.
