A common rule is that the same mattress can actually feel different for different sized people. Heavier people will generally require more support than others, and the bigger the mattress, the softer it will feel. If you are looking for that extra-soft feel, a mattress topper is a great choice for adding that extra layer of softness even on a firm mattress.

There are a number of mattress types available to choose from, including coil sprung and memory foam. Spring mattresses are among the most frequently purchased as they are fairly inexpensive, they are also rather firm as they are held together by a wire so that they retain their shape. However coil springs do provide less support. A pocket sprung mattress provides more support as they respond to body weight differently based on your individual needs. The springs in the fabric pockets keep the mattress more firm.
